Dean of Students (2020 to Date)

On June 2, 2020 the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi appointed me as the fifth Dean of Students. Some of the notable functions I am working on are:

  • Career & Placement Services
  • Disability Liaison Services
  • Counselling and Mentorship Services
  • Students Communication Services
  • Students Activities (UNSA and Professional Associations)
  • Financial Aid Services (Scholarships, Bursaries, Work-Study-Programs)

Director of Career Services (2019 to 2020)

When the Office of Career Services (OCS) was launched by the then Cabinet Secretary of Education Amb (Dr.) Amina Mohammed in June 2018,  the Vice Chancellor then Prof. Peter Mbithi appointed me as the first Director of Career Services effective from January 14, 2019 working closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Prof. Julius Ogeng’o. Some of the notable projects I worked on are:

  • Students Career Brand Ambassadors
  • Skills Development Programs
  • Students Exchange Programmes
  • Linking Students with the Industry for jobs, internships and industrial visits

Ms. Naomi Nyaboga, Chief Information Officer worked closely with the Director in delivering the Office of Career Services mandate

Director of University Advancement (2015 -2019)

I was appointed the first Director in the newly created Directorate of University Advancement (DUA) in the office of the Vice Chancellor where I served for four years between 2015 -2019. Some of the notable projects I worked on are:

  • UoN Students Hostels
  • UoN Teaching & Research Hospital
  • UoN Engineering & Science Complex

I worked with Mr. Brian Ouma who was Deputy Director who took over as the 2nd Director and is continuing from where I left.

Executive Director – UoN Alumni Association (2012 -2015)

I was appointed  the first Executive Director of the University of Nairobi Alumni Association (UONAA) and served the Association for three years between 2012 -2015 reporting to the Chairperson, University of Nairobi Alumni Association Dr. Betty Gikonyo and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi. Some of the notable projects I worked on are:

  • UoN Scholarship Fund
  • UoN Alumni Centre
  • UoN Endowment Fund

Mr. Kenneth Sawe took over from me as the 2nd Executive Director after I left the Alumni Association to join the University.
